Newport, RI is one of those amazing oceanside cities filled with Bed and Breakfasts, shopping, dining, and mansions (although mansion almost seems like an understatement). BUT before we spent the afternoon exploring Newport, we visited with a family friend in Narragansett, RI (pictured above). This was her backyard–twenty steps to the ocean. It was amazing. Rhode Island is such a beautiful state. We loved the many unique bridges too–and we crossed a lot of them on our two week East Coast trip.
These are just a few of the mansions we saw. Some of the above pictures are private residence and NOT available to tour (but still gorgeous and we had to snap a picture). For a complete list of mansions open to the public and to schedule a tour, visit here.
Some of the fun shopping and dining options are pictured above. It was a bustling city filled with tourists, even in October. It would be fun to come back and actually go inside the mansions. We spent a just a few hours here, but were so glad to be able to at least do that!
